The dongle software is installed when the badging software is installed. There are 4 possible scenarios for installing the dongle software, depending upon how you intend to use the badging software.
1. Standalone
The dongle and badging
software are to be installed at the same computer and the software will be run
from the computer's keyboard and screen.
In this case, install the software
using the default installer settings and attach
the dongle when the installation is completed.
2. Combined Terminal
Server/Dongle License Server
You plan to install the dongle and
badging software on a computer that will be accessed from other computers on the
network as a Terminal Server. This computer will also be used as the
Dongle License Server. At the Select
Components screen in the software installer, also check Network Dongle
License Server. This will install a service on the computer
that will provide access to the software license(s) via the Local Area Network
(LAN).
3. Terminal Server
with a Dongle License Server Elsewhere
You plan to install the
badging software on a computer that will be accessed from other computers on the
network as a Terminal Server. The dongle will be installed on a Dongle
License Server computer elsewhere. In this case, install the software
using the default installer settings at the Terminal Server, and then perform
the Dongle License Server installation below (if not already performed) at the
Dongle License Server (see 4 below).
4. Dongle License
Server
You plan to install one or more copies of the badging
software on computers on the LAN or Internet or Terminal Server, but install the
dongle on a separate Dongle License Server connected the LAN or Internet.
At the badging station computers, install the software using the default
installer settings. At the Dongle License Server (which may be on the LAN
the computers are connected to, or on the Internet), select Network Dongle License Server Only on the
Select Components screen.
Once the software has installed, the dongle can be attached. See below for
