Using the MCI or VFW Interface

When capture of video is performed, either for a photograph or for a bitmap, the same basic dialog is displayed.

The moveable boundary rectangle does not appear until the picture has been captured (by using the Freeze or Capture button).  It has the same aspect ratio as the rectangle holder it is intended for.  It can be moved by positioning the mouse cursor within the box and clicking and dragging with the left mouse button.  The size can be adjusted by similarly dragging the sides or corners.  Whenever the size is changed, the aspect ratio will be retained.  This means that changing the width automatically changes the height.

When you drag the sides, the opposite side stays stationary and the rectangle shrinks towards it or expands away from it.  When you drag the corners, the box shrinks or expands around its center.  When dragging corners, it is the up-down motion of the mouse which is used to control the size.

If you are unhappy with the captured image, you can click on the Thaw or Live button to return live video to the screen, and repeat the capture and compose sequence.
