Starting The ID Badge Software

During the installation process an appropriate ID badge group was created in the Programs area of the Windows Start Menu.  In this group you will find an icon for the ID badge software and another for viewing the README.DOC file.  You can double click on the latter to see the late-breaking information on the ID badge software.

To start the Guided Tour double click on the ID badge software icon.  The program will start and display an opening banner screen, or the Quick Launch Wizard, if it is enabled.

(As an alternative, you can start the program and automatically open a database by double clicking on the database .IDC file in Explorer).

Take a moment to familiarize yourself with the layout of the screen.  (You will find a picture of the ID badge software opening screen in Screen Areas section of The Main Screen chapter.)  It consists of 4 major areas.  Near the top is the familiar pull-down menu.  Immediately below that is a tool bar with most of the buttons “grayed” to indicate that they are not currently available.  Below the tool bar is the main working area of the program.  This is where badges will be displayed.  Along the bottom of the window you will find a status line.  This contains various information as the program operates.
